In 2007, CJSF established a partnership with the Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain, Inc. to award $4,000 to one successful candidate each year. Additional annual awards of $4,000 are made for an additional three years as long as the candidate remains enrolled and in good standing certified by the college or university. In addition, the if the winner of the Rising Star Scholarship chooses to attend the University of Denver, Colorado State University, or the University of Northern Colorado, that school will award an additional $2,000 scholarship bringing the total possible award to $24,000 over four years.
Applicants must be active members of Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain
- Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain establishes the process and deadlines for this scholarship
- Junior Achievement determines the finalists for a final review by board members of the Carson J Spencer Foundation
- The Carson J Spencer Foundation, in reaching its decision, will be looking for evidence of leadership, entrepreneurial achievements, social responsibility, academic excellence, and financial need.
In 2007 the Rising Star Scholarship was awarded to Trent Lovell who had attended Green Mountain High School in Jefferson County. He is now a student at Colorado University, Boulder.
